INNISFAIL, a 1939 Trumpy 92′ Motor Yacht, is hauled out to join 1938 Trumpy 61′ Motor Yacht, SEA TABBY, for service at Bradford Marine in Fort Lauderdale. Both ships are Mathis built Trumpy designs, both were built at the Mathis yard in Gloucester, New Jersey in the late 1930s, both share a classic design and mahogany hull. It is truly unique to have two, beautiful, classic vessels with such similar origins side-by-side in our shipyard.
INNISFAIL was designed by John Trumpy in the late 1930s for Joseph Cudahy, a Chicago businessman. During World War II the U.S. Navy commandeered it and other luxury yachts to serve as a shore patrol fleet. She was refitted with two 20mm cannons on her deck and a depth charge rack on her stern, and protected the East Coast for five years. In 1947, INNISFAIL was decommissioned and refurbished as a luxury yacht once again, remaining in government service as a presidential yacht. She was host to world leaders and dignitaries including Presidents Truman, Eisenhower and Kennedy, and in later years Presidents Nixon and Clinton.
