Hello and welcome to Volume VIII of the Bradford Marine E-News. Well, it's show time again. I've just returned from the Monaco Yacht Show which was an exciting show again this year. The turnout was excellent, and there was a very positive attitude at the show. It appears that there are a good number of yachts on their way to the Caribbean and the U.S. this year from the Med. Bradford Marine Fort Lauderdale and Bradford Marine Bahamas have had a lot of inquiries for the upcoming season from these yachts.
As mentioned at the American Superyacht Forum, we all need to collaborate with each other to better service the yachting industry here in South Florida. We look forward to working with each and every one of you again this year in keeping South Florida a leader in yachting.
I’m sure that we all agree that we're glad to see the summer behind us and move forward into another busy season. Bradford Marine had one of their busiest summer's to date. In my last E-News, the 132’ Palmer Johnson UNITY was the featured Yacht with a full paint job. This summer, we started full paint jobs on the 132’ Palmer Johnson OUR WAY and the 132’ Palmer Johnson RASA along with several other paint projects. Thank you all for your support!
The Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show is just around the corner again. We will be located in the Builders Tent again (Booth 624-625) and would like for you to stop by and say hello. Click here for more information about the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show.

Bradford Marine would like to thank Capt Herb Magney and the crew of the 142’ Hessen AT LAST for their continued support of Bradford Marine. We've had the pleasure of having Capt. Herb and his crew at Bradford for the past couple of months and have enjoyed their professionalism and the laughs. Thanks guys, and we look forward to having back again in the near future.

Bradford Marine Bahamas has had the pleasure of having the research vessel “Lone Ranger” at the facility for 5 months. Most of you will remember when the Lone Ranger was converted from an ocean going tug to a yacht in the port of Miami a number of years ago. She has since been sold and converted now into a research vessel.

The Bahamian Defense Force regularly sends their fleet to BMB for their repairs and services. We have just had two of their largest vessels, the HMBS Bahamas and the HMBS Nassau at Bradford Marine Bahamas for their routine maintenance check this summer.

Captain Franklin Taylor:
I've been fortunate to stay in touch with Franklin and his wife, Debbie, since they decided to move back to New Zealand, raise a family, and be shore based. Franklin met Debbie in New Zealand when he went there to build the S/V Aquel II. Franklin is busy opening a new shipyard around Auckland; more to come on that in due time. Debbie & Franklin have opened an entertainment company called Alpine Entertainment. Their website is www.alpineentertainment.co.nz. Franklin said that Debbie is in charge of the logistics, and he stays behind stage and has fun. Glad to hear that he is keeping up the tradition of being a captain. Congratulations to the two of you, wonderful website - worth taking a look at.

From 1913 to 1921, a well known family in the auto manufacturing business in America built 3 yachts. A 180’, 243’ and the last a 258’ which is still in existence today. The owner named the 258’ Yacht after his only daughter. In 1942 until 1946, the vessel served in the war with the U.S. Navy and then was returned to the original owners. The Yacht today still proudly carries the original name and is very well recognized in the Mediterranean. Can you tell me the following?
- Who was the original owner?
- What is the yacht's name?
- Where in America was she built?

In the last E-News, the Trivia question was who built the 45’ tug that was featured? I want to thank everyone who put their thinking caps on in regards to Bradford's first trivia question. What a response! I'll try to continue to include a new question in each volume of our E-News. The answer to the question below is BURGER BOAT CO, located in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Ironically, the answer can from one of Burger Project Mangers, David VanStan, who swears he did not know the answer and researched it. Thank you, David. Thanks again to everyone who participated in answering the trivia question! Please click here to view some pictures of these tugs that have been sent to us from Burger. Evidently the trivia question raised a little interest at Burger.
